Community Flood Intelligence
The Project
Project background:
ANU researchers team up with Northern Rivers community to build flood resilience
The Community Flood Intelligence project, led by ANU students, aims to transform early detection of catastrophic flooding. The project will construct and implement a decentralized network of rain gauges and water level measuring instruments in the catchments of flood-prone areas. This network will operate independently of cellular service, ensuring reliability even if the existing network is compromised. Our vision is to communicate and accurately predict when a major flood will occur so that communities and emergency services can respond proactively, ultimately saving resources, time, and lives.
