Project Update - Prototyping and Testing

The project has now moved into the prototyping and testing phase. Our current concept is to use LoRa (Long Range) modules for our communication system, in conjunction with ESP32 microprocessors for collecting sensor data. The electronics will be kept in a waterproof case and mounted on a star picket with a solar panel and battery system.

To ensure that our design will meet the project requirements, the team is currently conducting unit tests and system tests. In particular, the LoRa modules are being assessed for range, reliability, and power consumption. The solar panel is being measured for power/energy output. The battery system is being capacity tested, and the sensors are being tested for accuracy and reliability.

We expect to have a functioning prototype in the next few weeks to conduct system tests and to begin collecting data in the field.
